University Cooperations
Nationally and internationally networked
Whether Bochum, Shandong or Charlotte – the FOM works with renowned universities all over the world. It runs cooperative study programmes with partner universities, engages in dialogue with other institutions and participates in international research projects.
On a national level, for example, these cooperations, enable trainees and professionals to complete full-time study programmes at other universities as an evening or weekend course. On an international level, the focus is currently on research projects into topical problems relating to European and global corporate strategies: professors and lecturers at partner universities give guest lectures and seminars on these subjects at the FOM. The FOM also promotes international exchanges between students: FOM students have the chance to gain experience at universities abroad while foreign students can study at the FOM through the ERASMUS programme.
"Our university cooperation partners at home and abroad enable us to jointly develop interesting study programmes and research projects, and are therefore an important element in our dialogue with the academic community. We are engaged across different systems in constructive cooperations with state and private institutions."

Mannheim University of Applied Sciences
Mannheim University of Applied Sciences goes back over 100 years. It is particularly well known for the practical focus of its study programmes. For example, all professors have to have several years' professional experience. A partnership with the FOM was therefore a logical step. Together, the two universities offer a Bachelor degree course in automation systems.

ERASMUS programme
Gaining experience in Europe
The FOM has participated in the ERASMUS programme since the winter semester 2009/10. The European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students is an educational programme initiated by the EU to enable students to gain experience in other European countries and take part in their study programmes. The most important requirement: an ERASMUS cooperation agreement between the relevant universities
FOM currently cooperates with the following ERASMUS partner universities:
» Avans Hogeschool, s‘-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
» Beykent University, Istanbul, Turkey
» Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, Paris, France
» Roskilde University, Roskilde, Denmark
» Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, Murcia, Spain
» Universitat Jaume I, Castellón de la Plana, Spain
» University of Worcester, Worcester, Great Britain
» Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Milan, Italy
Within the framework of the ERASMUS programme, students at these universities can study at the FOM – or vice versa. The advantage of the programme is that it simplifies the admissions procedure and no tuition fees have to be paid.
Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled at their home university in a course that leads to a university degree.
- Applicants must have completed at least their first year of study (of Bachelor degree courses) or a foundation course.
- Applicants are citizens of the EU or other states which are contract partners in the European Economic Area or associated countries, or they are foreign students who have obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school in their country, have an unlimited residence permit or are recognised as being entitled to asylum/stateless.
- The applicants have not already participated in an ERASMUS programme.
- The applicants have an adequate knowledge of German.
- The period of study spent at the guest university must be at least three months but may not exceed one year.
Outgoing students (i.e. FOM students) will find more detailed information about the ERASMUS programme, application deadlines and application forms on the Online Campus website. If you have any questions, please contact the academic advisers at the FOM study centres.
Incoming students should note that applications for the winter semester or for the full academic year must be submitted by 15th July, and for the summer semester by 20th December.
Advice for incoming students: Please note that classes are usually held in German. Students should therefore have a good knowledge of the language prior to arrival. In the Bachelor programme in International Management, some of the modules are taught in English. If you are interested in studying at the FOM, contact first of all the ERASMUS coordinators at your home university about the organisational procedure. To apply, please use the application form below. After your home university has made its selection, please send your complete documents to the ERASMUS coordinator at FOM.
